This season is the perfect time to get outside and explore the amazing parks right in our backyard! Whether you're looking for splash pads, inclusive playgrounds, wooded trails, or picnic-perfect green spaces, there’s something nearby for every age and ability.

We’re highlighting some of the most kid-friendly parks in the area—complete with photos, tips, and ideas to make your next outing easy and fun. So grab your sunscreen, pack a snack, and let’s go play!

Ferullo Field Inclusive Playground - 880 Main Street, Woburn, MA

  • Recently constructed and open

  • Designed for all abilities—includes swings, ramps, slides, spinning gear, climbing apparatus, with a poured-rubber, wheelchair-accessible surface.

  • Located within a larger recreation area featuring baseball fields, tennis courts, and a dog park.

Leland Park - 87 Central Street, Woburn, MA

  • Large, colorful playground right next to Golden Pool featuring slides shaped like a train engine. 

  • Includes swings, climbing structures, and a basketball court nearby. Facilities also include a seasonal pool and sports fields.

Clapp Park, by Horn Pond, 40 Hudson St. Woburn, MA

  • Fenced playground and splash pad with climbing structures, hopscotch court, rope bridges, circle swing, baby swings, and lots of seating 

  • Scenic loop path, enclosed for safe scootering or biking, views of Horn Pond

  • Sports & open areas including a nearby baseball field and open grass space for free play

Ipswich River Park - 15 Central Street, North Reading, MA 

  • Large fenced playground with jungle gym and sandbox

  • Basketball and tennis courts, skate park, soccer fields, street‑hockey rink

  • Paved loop trails ideal for biking, walking, scootering

  • Open fields for picnics or casual play

KidSpot Playground, 148 Chestnut Street, North Reading, MA 

  • Tiered play zones with slides, rope bridges, tire climbs, and a cute wooden “car” structures

Simonds Park - 10 Bedford Street, Burlington, MA 

  • A large playground with multiple slides, climbing structures, and woodchip surfacing.

  • A skate park and street hockey court visible behind the courts.

  • Spacious, lighted basketball and tennis courts, plus sidelines for little league baseball and general play.

  • Summer-ready wading pool and adjacent picnic and concession areas.

Ballardvale Park Playground - 164–168  Andover Street (intersection with Center St), Andover, MA 

  • Two age-appropriate play areas: one for toddlers (ages 2–4), and a larger structure for school-age kids (5–12), with slides, swings, rope bridges, sandboxes, and climbing features

  • Community-focused design: includes picnic benches, wood-chip surfacing, and paved paths that meander throughout the play area—ideal for strollers and ride-on toys

  • Sports amenities: visible basketball court and nearby little-league baseball field
